GATESHEAD assistant manager Jeff Wrightson believes the 33rd-minute dismissal of on-loan Doncaster winger Craig Nelthorpe cost his side dearly at the International Stadium yesterday.
Gateshead were good value for a single-goal lead, courtesy of Carl Jones' second-minute header, when Nelthorpe lashed out at Harrogate Town midfielder Matty Young.
Young made the most of the minimal contact, but Nelthorpe was given a straight red card – and within five minutes the Tykes were level. |

Manager Ian Bogie said, "This will be Craig's second loan spell at Gateshead where he made a huge impact when he was here last time. | Gateshead decide not to enter the Durham County Challenge Cup - 21.08.2008 |
2007/8 finalists, Gateshead, have decided against entering this season's Durham County Challenge Cup. Commenting on the decision, Team Manager Ian Bogie said "With two extra league games to play this season, plus there's always the possibility of decent runs in the lucrative FA Cup, FA Trophy and Setanta Shield competitions, we've decided not to risk potentially costly injuries by overburdening our players. When you also consider that the club lost money on every round last term, including the final, it just doesn't make sense to enter the competition however you look at it".

A GRAEME ARMSTRONG double and a late goal from substitute Michael Rae saw Gateshead beat Alfreton Town 3-0 to move into second spot.
The unbeaten Tynesiders trail leaders Southport by just two points after the opening three games of the new season.
However, the result against Alfreton, who came back strongly in the second half, was more convincing than the performance. |

Monsoon conditions prevailed for the whole of the second half and, after Kris Gate had broken the deadlock with a deflected overhead kick, the Bloods hit back to take a deserved point.
