Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the signing of Harrison Bond.
The goalkeeper joins the club on a one-year deal after featuring as a trialist in pre-season, appearing against Dunston UTS, Hebburn Town and Sunderland.
The 19-year-old spent his youth career in the ranks at Sunderland, progressing to the under-23 side as well as being included in the first team squad for a Carabao Cup fixture against Blackpool in August 2021.
Bond most recently spent time on loan with Northern Premier Division East outfit Shildon last season, joining on an initial one-month loan in November 2022 before going on to stay with The Railwaymen for the remainder of the campaign.
“It’s something me, Rob [Elliot] and the gaffer have been talking about for a while,” said Bond.
“Rob mentioned the style of play that the lads here play, and I was really excited to come in and see what it’s about.
“The plan is for me go to back out on loan, continue getting that experience to put me in good stead for next season.
“I want to put myself in the best position to be around the lads here next year, and have a chance of playing.”
“We’re delighted to bring Harrison in,” said Technical Director, Rob Elliot.
“He’s a player who suits our style of play and can provide competition for Archie and myself, and we see him developing further with us.
“He’ll be coming in and training with the first team, but we also want to get him out on loan so he can develop as much as possible by playing regularly.”
