We can now confirm our full pre-season schedule ahead of the 2022/23 Vanarama National League campaign.
Due to a cancellation, we are currently in the process of arranging alternative opposition on July 29, and will update supporters in due course.
The playing surface at Gateshead International Stadium is currently under renovation and so will not be in a playable state to host friendlies earlier than July 23rd.
Mike Williamson’s side will contest two behind closed doors friendlies to begin their pre-season schedule, heading to face Championship side Sunderland in a 60-minute training fixture before facing Newcastle United on July 9.
The first friendly fans can see The Heed in action comes on Tuesday, July 12 with a trip across the borough to Dunston UTS, followed by a visit to Vanarama National League North neighbours Spennymoor Town on Saturday, July 16.
Gateshead’s squad will be split between two away fixtures on the evening of Tuesday, July 19, with Williamson’s men playing Hebburn Town at The Green Energy Sports Ground and Darlington at Blackwell Meadows.
The Heed will host League Two opposition at Gateshead International Stadium when Harrogate Town visit two weeks before the National League season begins – the first meeting between the two sides since April 2019.
