On behalf of the club, I’d like to explain the rationale behind the initial requirement for under 16s to be accompanied by a paying adult for the 22/23 season.

At Gateshead FC and many other football clubs across the country, there has been an increasing number of problems related to anti-social behaviour from both individuals and groups of young people.

Unfortunately, we have experienced several issues recently at the International Stadium, including pitch incursions.

These issues cause problems with the National League that could see the club fined, or even imposed with point deductions.

In the last week, we have been working with our safety officer, local police, The FA and the National League to discuss a suitable solution.

The previous solution was that all supporters aged 16 and under would be required to be accompanied by a paying adult, but we appreciate that the majority of our young supporters are capable of acting responsibly without supervision.

As a result, we will be introducing a Young Persons ID card for supporters aged 15 and 16.

This ID card will enable us to confirm a supporter’s age, but will also assist in identifying any young person who may cause any unsociable behaviour.

Supporters must apply for their ID card in person at Gateshead International Stadium, and entry will not be permitted at home fixtures unless they have previously applied.

The initial card will be provided free of charge but any replacement will incur a minimal charge to cover costs.

Identification will be required for us to issue the Young Persons ID card, and this facility will be available at all home fixtures (up to 15 minutes before kick off) as well as open days at Gateshead International Stadium prior to the season commencing.

The match day admission price for a youth ticket is set at £5 for individual fixtures, and a youth season ticket is priced at £75 (equivalent to £3.27 per game), and also includes membership to the Junior Heed Club.

We unfortunately cannot extend this scheme to supporters aged 14 and under, who must be accompanied by a paying adult for all 22/23 fixtures, but will be admitted free of charge.

If you have already purchased a membership card and wish to take up the season ticket offer, please email [email protected] and we will issue a payment link to cover the £50 upgrade cost.

Please note that a membership card only grants membership to the Junior Heed Club and is not a season ticket.

The club will be organising a number of member-exclusive events, including player meet and greets, during the 22/23 season for the Junior Heed Club.
