Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the signing of Ethan Fitzhugh on a one-year deal with an option.

The winger arrives on Tyneside initially for the 2025/26 season after appearing three times as a trialist during pre-season, turning out in wins over Dunston UTS, Spennymoor Town and Darlington in The Heed’s final three friendlies.

The 22-year-old is set to make his Enterprise National League bow after spending the 2024/25 season with National League North side Buxton, where he made 32 league appearances last term, following on from a 13-year stint with Leicester City in his youth.

“I want to bring excitement to the fans when I’m playing and get them off their seats,” said Fitzhugh.

“It’s been amazing speaking to [Alun Armstrong & Jacob Butterfield] – they just want me to be creative and be my normal self.

“I just want to show everyone that I know I can play at a higher level, and prove that to everyone else as well.

“I’ve been buzzing all week, it’s all the boys have been talking about, just getting to the first game and getting ready for it – we’re all just excited.”

Welcome to Gateshead, Fitzy!
