Tommy Lavery joined Gateshead on a two-year contract in June 2026.
The right-sided defender signed until the summer of 2028 after departing Sunderland following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season – progressing through The Black Cats’ academy system from the age of nine through to U21 level.
Lavery spent the first half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan with Northern Irish Premiership side Cliftonville, appearing 18 times before later joining Enterprise National League side FC Halifax Town on temporary terms in January 2026. Lavery would spend the rest of the season plying his trade with The Shaymen, making nine appearances in all competitions as they finished eighth in the National League.
