Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Alfie McCalmont until the end of the 2026/27 season.
The central midfielder arrives on Tyneside after most recently spending the past two years with Australian side Central Coast Mariners, making 49 appearances for the A-League outfit across the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.
The 26-year-old has made over 100 appearances in the Football League across stints with Oldham Athletic, Morecambe and Carlisle United, and playing alongside current Gateshead defender Jack Robinson for The Cumbrians during their time in League Two and League One.
McCalmont is eligible for immediate inclusion in the match day squad having received approval and international clearance.
“Instantly you see his quality,” said Lee Cattermole.
“He’s a very, very, very good footballer technically – he’ll definitely add quality to the group. He’s been great, he’s been around the squads and he’s built good relationships with the players already, and it’s one which will give the whole group a big lift.”
