Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the signing of Archie Mair.
The goalkeeper arrives at Gateshead International Stadium on a season-long loan from Championship side Norwich City, having spent the 2022/23 season with National League play-off winners Notts County.
The 22-year-old made five appearances last season and carved his name into The Magpies’ history at Wembley Stadium, saving two penalties in the play-off final shootout having been introduced as substitute in the 120th minute to ensure promotion to League Two.
“I want to be a number one, that’s the main thing about being here,” he said.
“I want to play week in, week out, help lead the team and be that goalkeeper that they look back towards and have a bit of faith in.
“Having that pressure and weight on my shoulders to do that, I’m really looking forward to it.”
