Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the loan signing of defender Brandon Haunstrup for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
The 27-year-old arrives on loan from Cambridge United ahead of the final game of the regular season against Bromley, with Haunstrup also eligible to appear in the upcoming National League play-offs and Isuzu FA Trophy final.
Haunstrup completed his temporary move from the EFL League One side ahead of the National League registration deadline on March 28, and has now linked up with Rob Elliot’s squad after returning from an injury-enforced absence.
The defender has made 39 third tier appearances across spells with Cambridge United and Portsmouth, as well as featuring in the Scottish Premiership and Championship with Kilmarnock, for whom he made 58 appearances.
“I was disappointed at the start, not to be able to come here when I first signed,” said Haunstrup.
“The gaffer showed his interest in me and I was very keen to get up here. I drove up last night and I couldn’t wait to get back out there for my first session and going into the weekend.
“It’s a massive achievement in itself [getting to the play-offs], and I’m just hoping to come in and contribute something towards that.”
