Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the signing of Gateshead FC Academy midfielder Callum Bone on a two-year professional contract.

The 17-year-old signs professional terms after appearing across our 2025/26 pre-season campaign so far, scoring in wins over both Blyth Spartans and Spennymoor Town in the past seven days.

The attacking midfielder made the senior match day squad for the first time in the Enterprise National League in January 2025 when he was an unused substitute in a home fixture against Oldham Athletic, and went on to appear twice in senior competitions for Gateshead during the 2024/25 season.

Gateshead FC Academy operates in partnership with Gateshead College to develop young players into the professional game, with Bone joining fellow former Gateshead FC Academy players Carter Milmore, Connor Pani, Lucas Lowery and Oli Thompson in the club’s first team squad.

“I’m really pleased,” said Bone.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity that I’ve got and I just can’t wait. I found out on holiday that Alun was going to offer me something, and I just loved playing for him last year, he helped me to just play my game and gave me the freedom to express myself.

“I’ve loved playing the games in pre-season. I don’t think I’ve really played as well as I can, I think I’ve still got more and no one has seen the best of me yet.”

Manager, Alun Armstrong, added: “There’s a hell of a lot of talk about Callum at this moment in time from professional clubs.

“I’ve had him for a year, we’ve seen him develop and he’s come on leaps and bounds, he really has – but he’s got so much potential.

“He’s only 17, he wants to play men’s football and he sees that as where he’s best going to develop. He wants to be in amongst it all the time, but we’re probably going to be a little bit patient with him as well.

“Sometimes he’s going to have to take a step back and work on his development still, but the kid has got massive potential and that’s the big thing for me.”
