Carl Morrison looks ahead to the new season with Gateshead Ladies starting preparation to hopefully give them a chance of promotion.
“We’ve hosted three open sessions where our current players have attended, as well as a lot of possible new girls that we can bring into the side,” said Morrison.
“We had a lot of interest from girls all over the North East who are wanting to get a spot within our team. We’ve had some really good talent in the open sessions but also it’s been great to see the girls come back and show that they’re ready for the new season.
“This has allowed us to have a look at where everybody is at, so from now on it’s hard work preparing for pre-season and the new season ahead.
“As coaches, it was our first season in the league last season and now we know the vision and what it takes to be successful within that league. We learned a lot last season on the standards of the league and where we should be playing, so we’re going into this season with a lot more knowledge as a group and as a team.
“We want to get this team promoted, that is our aim.
“Last season, we just missed out on promotion by two points. We throughly believe as a team that we can achieve promotion as long as we put in the hard work before the season and during the season.
“We’re building together as a team so we can go out there and win as many games as possible. Everyone within this team is together, and I feel we have every chance of getting promoted this season.”
“The ladies team is growing and we are glad we have such a good environment which is positive for women and ultimately giving them a pathway into football. This is where women can come and play football at a good level and in the upcoming seasons we want to be pushing through the leagues.”
“We want to create a style of football that people want to be a part of, we want everyone to feel like they can have fun and enjoy themselves while playing football with this team, and at the same time create a competitive environment.”
“We look forward to the new season and our ultimate goal is promotion.”
