It is with regret that we announce that Gateshead FC Ladies will not be competing in the 2025/26 season, as we are not in a position to field a senior women’s team at this time.
This decision has not been taken lightly, and we extend our sincere thanks to all players, staff, and supporters who have been part of the team’s journey so far.
Despite this, our commitment to women’s football in the region remains strong. We will continue to support the development of the female football pathway through our existing Gateshead FC Under 16 Girls team, and the recent launch of our Gateshead FC U21 Women’s team in partnership with Gateshead College.
This collaboration will see our Gateshead FC U21 Women’s team compete in the National Football Youth League (NFYL) North East Championship under the leadership of Codie Nichols.
We view this as a vital step in strengthening the long-term future of women’s football at Gateshead FC, and we remain fully committed to re-introducing a senior women’s team for the 2026/27 season.
We’d like to thank Gateshead Leam Rangers who have been very understanding and considerate given the situation, and wish them all the best for the season and their Adobe Women’s FA Cup run going forward.
