Connor Pani has joined Workington on an initial one-month loan deal.

The midfielder will link up with the Northern Premier League Premier Division side ahead of Saturday’s game at home to Ilkeston Town, with The Reds currently 14th in the league table.

“Pani has been really unfortunate in terms of getting a fractured rib in the first game of the season,” said Rob Elliot.

“He’s not had as many minutes as we would like, and for his development we’re looking at him as someone who can play in multiple positions.

“We need to nail down his strongest position, but I look at him as a centre-half and I think he’s got all of the attributes. He’s six-foot-four, he’s both footed and he naturally senses danger well, so hopefully this is a loan that will really develop him to be ready to tackle National League football.

“He’s shown last season and this season that he’s more than capable of it, but he’s a young lad and he needs to be playing games, so this gives him the opportunity to do that in a different environment and a different position.

“We’ve always said here we’d rather leave ourselves short but develop our squad and our players, such as the likes of Aidan [Rutledge], Oli [Thompson] and Connor, so we’re looking forward to seeing him get back on track because he’s a fantastic lad.”

All the best during your time at Workington, Connor!
