Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the loan signing of Aston Villa goalkeeper Filip Marschall until the end of the 2021/22 season.
The 18-year-old arrives on Tyneside having made 10 appearances for Aston Villa’s under-23 side this season with the Premier League 2 Division 2 side currently sitting in fourth place.
Marschall has also been capped internationally with England under-19’s this season following a successful 2020/21 campaign which saw him lift the FA Youth Cup at Villa Park, in addition to being named The Villans’ Scholar of the Year.
The Cambridge-born stopper joined Aston Villa as a 15-year-old from non-league side Cambridge City in 2018 and has progressed through the academy ranks at Villa Park, making 13 appearances for the club’s under-18 side during the 2020/21 season.
“I’m over the moon to finally be here,” said Marschall.
“From what I have seen already it’s a great group of lads and the levels are high which is what you want as a footballer.
“I know the fans are great here from what I’ve seen, and that need to win games is going to be a big thing stepping up from academy football for me so I’m looking forward to that.”
