Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the return of Filip Marschall on loan until the end of the season.
The goalkeeper joins from Aston Villa on a temporary basis for the second time, having become a key figure in last season’s National League North title winning campaign before signing a contract extension at Villa Park in August 2022.
The 19-year-old made 19 appearances during the second half of the season to help The Heed to their first league title in 36 years, and now returns to Tyneside for the remainder of the National League campaign after spending the opening half of this season with Aston Villa’s first team and U21 setup.
“It’s exciting to be back, for different reasons,” he said.
“The summer was quite tough because a loan wasn’t on the cards for me – Villa wanted me to stay and be around the squad.
“Just before the transfer window I found out I was going to be able to go out on loan again, so we were in touch with Gateshead and things went pretty smoothly.
“The games are going to be tougher and we’re playing in a better league, but that added pressure is something I’m looking forward to.”
