Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the return of James Montgomery.
The stopper re-joins The Heed on a one-month loan from Vanarama National League North side Spennymoor Town until Saturday, March 23, strengthening Rob Elliot’s goalkeeping options with Eddie Beach out of action through illness, and is eligible for immediate inclusion in the squad at Kidderminster Harriers.
Montgomery will now embark upon his fourth stint at Gateshead, having first joined the club in 2017 before re-signing at Gateshead International Stadium in 2020 and 2022.
The 29-year-old made his last appearance for the club in the 2023 Isuzu FA Trophy final at Wembley Stadium, marking his 73rd game for The Heed with the club’s first-ever appearance in the competition’s final.
“Obviously it’s a place where I’ve always loved playing – I think I’ve said this for the third time now after coming back!” said Montgomery.
“It’s just exciting to come back and play for the club. I’ve got many fond memories here and hopefully we can build on that with some good performances in the next few weeks.
“Hopefully I can help to beat the opposition in front of us on the day and just see where it takes us.”
