Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the appointments of Carl Morrison and Hugo Djassi as Gateshead Ladies’ manager & assistant manager.
Previously of Birtley Town Ladies, the pair have also been involved with Inspired Support and represented Gateshead FC in Spain this summer by lifting the Costa Blanca Cup.
The duo take the reins following Simon Johnson’s departure, with Gateshead Ladies now competing in North East Regional Women’s Football North following back-to-back promotions in their first two seasons.
“I come [to Gateshead] a lot as a fan with my son, he’s Gateshead fanatical, so to join the ladies as manager is really exciting,” said Morrison.
“The last two managers have done really good jobs in getting the team promoted in both seasons, so that’s what we want to do.
“We want to win games of football and gain promotion.”
“We just want to get started and put the work in, learn about the girls, get to know them and understand what motivates them,” added Djassi.
“It’s amazing working with Carl, I can’t speak more highly of him. We run everything past each other and it’s amazing the response we get from each other.
“Being here, I’m not thinking of anything else, I just want to enjoy every single day here.”
Morrison and Djassi will take their first fixture from the dugout at home to Chester-le-Street United Women on Sunday, September 25.
Gateshead Ladies are in action for the first time this season on Sunday, September 18 away to Gateshead Rutherford Ladies in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup preliminary round.
