Gateshead Ladies face Hartlepool United in the third qualifying round of the Women’s FA Cup and Ladies Captain Carly Salmon hopes the game gives “a massive boost for the team and the club.”

“Being someone who has played in the FA cup in previous seasons it’s something I’m always looking forward to each season. Some of the new girls are understanding why we take so much pride in this particular cup.”

Salmon also mentioned what a win in the cup would mean to the team. “We all love the FA Cup and it’s a massive privilege to be part of it. It would be a massive boost for ourselves and the club. We want to keep heading in the right direction and a win on Sunday will provide that.”

Carl Morrisons side want to continue their positive start to the season and the captain says she has “enjoyed the start of the season” adding “We’ve focused on one game at a time and that’s helped us focus in training to prepare for our upcoming games on Sundays.”

A win for the heed would see them reach the first round proper of the Women’s FA Cup seeing the team reach a massive milestone.
