Elliot Forbes starred in a four-goal win for loan club Blyth Spartans on Tuesday evening.
The defender started his sixth consecutive game under Graham Fenton and former Gateshead forward Jon Shaw, helping The Spartans to a 4-0 win over Farsley Celtic at Croft Park in midweek.
Former Heed midfielders JJ O’Donnell and Harrison Clark were also named in the starting 11 for Blyth on Tuesday, whose victory took them up to fourth place in the Vanarama National League North, though they were without fellow loanee Lewis Knight after he was withdrawn through injury at Buxton on August 26.
Elsewhere in the sixth tier, Lirak Hasani earned a spot in the National League North Team of the Week on Monday after playing an integral role in South Shields’ 4-0 win over Banbury United last weekend.
The 21-year-old grabbed his first assist of the season in his side’s commanding victory, and following Tuesday’s round of fixtures has now started seven of the club’s eight league fixtures.
The Mariners currently sit fifth in the league table following a 3-1 defeat at league leaders Scunthorpe United in midweek, with former Gateshead forward Aaron Martin netting his fifth goal of the season at Glanford Park.
In the Northern Premier League East Division, Oli Thompson started three fixtures inside one week for Ian Skinner’s Ashington, including a win on his debut away to Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Harrison Bond, meanwhile, made a debut of his own for Whitley Bay, who currently sit fourth in Northern League Division One having picked up four points across his two games between the sticks.
The goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in his first outing for The Bay as they secured a 3-0 win away to Tow Law Town, before a last-gasp equaliser against Redcar Athletic prevented him from making it two wins from two.
Bond was on hand to ensure his side took a point away from Redcar, pulling off a superb save from Sonni Coleman’s header deep into added time to keep the scores level.
