Next up ‘On the Road’ for the Heed is a trip to Aldershot, following Monday’s 2-0 victory over high-flying Scunthorpe United.

It’s a 620-mile round trip to The EBB Stadium for the travelling Heed Army on Saturday.

Aldershot’s have won just two of their last ten games in the league, John Coleman’s side losing 3-0 at Wealdstone last time out.

We’ve Met Before

In the most recent meeting between these two sides, the spoils were shared in an entertaining 3-3 draw on Tyneside. Kyle Hurst put The Heed in front on 5 minutes, but that was quickly cancelled out by Kwame Thomas equaliser, before Cameron Hargreaves put The Shots 2-1 up going into half time.

Gateshead came out strongly in the second half, and two goals in two minutes from Kyle Hurst and Harry Chapman turned the game on its head just passed the hour. There was still time for Aldershot to grab a third though, Hady Ghandour equalising 13 minutes from time.

Travel & Ticketing Information

The EBB Stadium is conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from Aldershot Railway Station, and is centrally located within the Town Centre

The nearest National Rail station is Aldershot (served by South Western Railway), with direct trains to and from London Waterloo.

You cannot catch a train direct from Newcastle Central to Aldershot, so our recommended route would be to catch a train from Newcastle to London Kings Cross (LNER or Lumo), then hop on a tube to London Waterloo (Victoria Line to Oxford Circus, then Bakerloo Line to Waterloo), and catch a South Western Railway service to Aldershot.

If you’re travelling by car, exit the M3 at junction 4. Follow signs towards Aldershot on the A331 and take the exit signposted A323 Aldershot and Woking. At the roundabout, take the third exit towards Aldershot, go straight on through the two sets of traffic lights and across two mini-roundabouts towards the town. The EBB Stadium is on your right, just past the railway bridge.

There are no parking facilities at the ground, you can park in the multi-storey car park on Wellington Avenue in Aldershot Town Centre, this is roughly a 5-minute walk from the ground.

Tickets can be purchased online here, with Gateshead fans housed in a small corner of the South Stand.

Supporters can save on their ticket price if bought during the ‘Earlybird’ period which ends at 10am on Saturday. If you prefer to purchase your ticket on the day, the Club Shop is open from 12:00PM on matchdays for cash or card purchases.

Tickets are priced as follows, with ‘Earlybird’ pricing in brackets.

Match Report: Gateshead FC

Gateshead secured their Enterprise National League status on Saturday after a hard-fought win at Aldershot, rounding off an incredible survival mission from Rob Elliot’s men.

The Heed made one change from Monday’s victory over Scunthorpe United, with Josh Anifowose replacing the injured Keaton Ward out wide.

Aldershot, who were also fighting for survival, started well with Theo Widdrington and Callum Stewart testing Heed goalkeeper Adam Desbois early.

Harry Chapman gave Gateshead the advantage on 10 minutes, when the winger found space on the edge of the box and sent a low effort into the bottom corner.

The rest of the first period was tight – the biggest chance coming from Ryan Hill but it was a routine save from Desbois on 42 minutes.

The Heed threatened throughout the second half, and were denied a second before the hour when Chapman’s strike was blocked off the line by an Aldershot defender.

Shrewsbury loanee Stewart was a live-wire all afternoon for the Shots, and almost found an equaliser on 78 minutes but Desbois stopped at full stretch and the rebound went over.

Aldershot searched for a leveller in the final stages, with Will Nightingale heading over from a corner and Widdrington forcing Desbois into a stunning save.

After five minutes of injury time, the referee blew time on proceedings to confirm safety for the Heed after a remarkable turn in fortunes.

Gateshead: Desbois, Nicholson, Ferguson, Storey, Anifowose (Grayson 79’), Chapman (Beck 87’), John, Home, Bowen (Newton 65’), Chadwick (Amantchi 79’), Boatswain (Moore 65’)
