Next up ‘On the Road’ for the Heed is a 574-mile round trip to Essex as we face Aveley in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round at Parkside.

Aveley are currently sat 15th in The Pitching In Isthmian Premier Division, with 10 points from eight games. In their most recent fixture, The Millers lost 2-0 at home to St Albans in the FA Trophy.

Travel & Ticketing Information

Parkside is located within the town of Aveley and is around a 10 minute walk from the High Street.

If you’re heading down by rail, there is no railway station in Aveley, and as such there are no direct trains. Trains from Newcastle to London Kings Cross are operating a diversionary route because of engineering works, so journey times are increased by approximately 1hr 30min in each direction. Our recommended route would be to catch an LNER service from Newcastle to London Kings Cross, then change onto a Hammersmith & City line Tube to West Ham, catch a c2c service from West Ham to Rainham, and finally the 372 bus from Rainham Interchange to Aveley.

If you’re travelling by car, from the North, leave the M25 at junction 30/31 and use the 2nd from the left lane to take the A13 exit to Dagenham/Tilbury/Thurrock (Lakeside), take Ship Lane to Park Lane in Aveley, at Mar Dyke Interchange, take the 2nd exit, at the roundabout, exit onto Ship Lane, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto High Street, continue on to Stifford Road, at the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Aveley Bypass/B1335, at the roundabout, take the 3rd exit, merge onto Park Lane. Parkside will be on the right.

There are just over 200 car parking space available on a match day, and they are available to those first come, first served on match days. Overflow parking is available at Belhus Park.

Tickets can be purchased on the day, from the turnstile, and are priced as follows;

Match Report: Gateshead FC

Gateshead cruised into the first round of the Emirates FA Cup after a 3-0 victory away to Isthmian League Premier Division side, Aveley.

David Ferguson and Kyle Hurst put Alun Armstrong’s side two goals ahead, before Dom Telford returned from a long-term injury and added a third late on.

Armstrong named new signings Ibrahim Bakare and Kian Pennant in his starting 11, while Callum Johnson also returned to right-back.

Tiernan Brooks remained untested throughout the first half, while Gateshead created several chances in the opening stages.

Josh Home saw an effort blocked in front of goal, while Harry Chapman and Jacob Butterfield struck over the crossbar.

On the half hour, Home slotted midfield partner Fenton John through but Aveley goalkeeper Joe Wright made a low save at his front post.

The opener eventually came on 40 minutes, when Ferguson met Butterfield’s corner at the back post and guided his header past Wright.

Aveley grew into the game after the break, and nearly equalised as Ollie Peters fired high at Brooks.

Gateshead secured a two-goal lead, however, when Butterfield’s lobbed pass was tucked away by Hurst on 65 minutes.

Telford and Butterfield were kept out at point-blank range in the dying minutes, before Telford eventually got his goal to secure a 3-0 win.
