FC Halifax TownNext up ‘On the Road’ for the Heed is a 244-mile round trip to West Yorkshire, where we take on FC Halifax Town at The Shay, in a 19:45 kick-off at The Shay.
FC Halifax come into this game occupying a play-off position, sitting 7th in the National League following their 1-0 win over Truro at The Shay on Saturday, which ended a three-game winless run in the league.
The Shaymen have three familiar faces in their squad, goalkeeper Sam Johnson, defender Jevon Mills and striker Will Harris have all turned out on Tyneside in Gateshead colours.
We’ve Met Before
In the most recent meeting between these two sides, FC Halifax Town came away from The International Stadium with all three points, back in September 2025. In a game which saw three penalties awarded in difficult conditions on Tyneside, it was Halifax who had the first golden opportunity, but Josh Hmami’s spot kick on 10 minutes was saved by Tiernan Brooks, after Kenton Richardson was adjudged to have fouled David Kawa.
Fast-forward to the half-hour and Gateshead took the lead through a penalty of their own, converted by Kain Adom after Connor Pani was hauled down in the box. Just five minutes later, and the third penalty of the game was awarded, converted by Jay Turner-Cooke, to pull The Shaymen level going into the break. As the rain continued to hammer down on Tyneside, Halifax went in front on the hour mark, David Kawa breaking down the left-hand-side, to slot through the legs of Tiernan Brooks and send The Shaymen back to West Yorkshire with all three points.
For Gateshead, FC Halifax Town are the very definition of ‘a bogey team’, with The Tynesiders’ last victory against The Shaymen coming back in November 2000.
