Gateshead FC Ladies’ Vitality Women’s FA Cup run came to an end at the third round qualifying stage the hands of Harrogate Town Ladies.
The home side were the first to threaten just four minutes in. A long kick from Salmon eventually dropped to Katie Lemmon in the area, but she saw her effort go just wide.
The visitors then took the lead with just under 20 minutes gone when a lobbed effort went over Salmon and made the score 0-1.
Harrogate looked to extend their advantage before half time, and nearly did with a shot that flew just past the post.
Gateshead then responded with two chances in quick succession.
Jasmin Badillo saw a shot from range crash off the crossbar, before Olivia Black tested the Harrogate keeper only minutes later.
Black had another chance midway through the second half, but the Harrogate keeper was once again equal to her effort
The away side then managed to turn the tide and score a second with just over 20 minutes to go.
This hurt Gateshead, and they were not able to build any momentum in the final stages of the game.
Harrogate were therefore able to see out the victory and progress to the next round of the competition.
