Match Report: Will Brown

Dajaune Brown continued his fine goalscoring form to earn a crucial three points against Dagenham & Redbridge.

Brown demonstrated his natural poachers instincts to make a dynamic run into the box to tap home Ben Worman’s cross in the 77th minute.

There were six changes to the team that progressed to the FA Trophy semi-finals on Saturday following a 3-2 win against Peterborough Sports.

Marcus Dinanga was reintroduced to the starting XI alongside Brown who netted a hat-trick on the weekend. Louis Storey, Kain Adom, Luke Hannant, Ed Francis and Callum Whelan were the other changes.

Adom played a clever pass into the path of a fast-approaching Whelan – whose first-time effort was palmed away by Elliot Justham in the 12th minute.

In the 34th minute, Dion Pereira found Ryan Hill in the box – who skillfully evaded Mamadou Jobe with a body faint before he fired the ball over the bar from close range.

James Montgomery’s quick free-kick started a counter-attack in the 47th minute. Brown’s layoff to Whelan on the edge of the box was blasted towards the bottom corner – but Justham got down well to maintain the deadlock between the two sides.

Dinanga was dispossessed by Jake Hessenthaler which left a loose ball to be struck by Hill – but the Daggers’ midfielder effort was collected by Montgomery in the 64th minute.

Adom used his electric pace to sprint down the left flank before he played a reverse pass into Worman – the Gateshead midfielder then squared the ball onto Brown to convert the chance from six yards.

In the 89th minute, Ed Francis delivered a free-kick from 24 yards that left Justham anchored to his goal line as the ball curled into the side netting.
