Gateshead fell to a 3-1 defeat against Harrogate Town in the first appearance of 22/23 at Gateshead International Stadium
An early goal by a Harrogate trialist and a brace by former Gateshead striker Luke Armstrong saw Gateshead beaten, despite Aaron Martin’s goal in his first appearance for the club.
Gateshead found themselves down 1-0 within four minutes when Alex Pattison floated in a cross into the box which was not dealt with allowing for the Trialist to score at the back post.
Harrogate kept the pressure on and in the 27th minute Matty Daly found Alex Pattison at the back post with a driven cross, but Ethan Pye made a vital block to keep the score 1-0
Greg Olley caught the Harrogate defence out when taking a quick throw to Tom Allen who manged to beat his man before unleashing a shot into the near post, but Pete Jameson managed to collect
Harrogate got their second in the 40th minute when Carl Magnay was unaware, he was being pressed allowing for Luke Armstrong to take the ball and finish with composure.
Gateshead soon retaliated when Paul Blackett managed to play Adam Campbell through, but Jameson managed to make a good save.
The Heed pulled one back in the 62nd minute when Blackett squared a ball to Aaron Martin who scored just one minute after coming on.
Jack Muldoon crosses to Luke Armstrong who hit it from seven yards out, but Langley manages to make an incredible save however Armstrong got onto the rebound and he was never going to miss getting Harrogate their third in the 66th minute.
Connor Pani tried to get Gateshead back in the game when he tried his luck from 25-yeards out, but Jameson got down well to his right to keep the score 3-1.
