Gateshead headed out of the Isuzu FA Trophy at the first hurdle following a bad day at the office on Tyneside.
There were goals for Jack Nolan, George Thomas and Miguel Azeez as Morecambe secured a comfortable victory at the International Stadium.
The first chance went Gateshead’s way, as Jacob Butterfield’s wide free-kick was headed over the Morecambe goal by Kenton Richardson.
On 33 minutes, the visitors took the lead when Nolan fired past teenage keeper Preston Leech from the edge of the box.
The Shrimps doubled their lead on 42 minutes, with Thomas running through the Gateshead defence and slotting home.
Shortly after the break, it was three as Azeez scored directly from the corner spot for Morecambe.
Both teams had goals ruled out for offside in the closing stages before the referee called time on proceedings, ending Gateshead’s painful afternoon on Tyneside.
