WokingGateshead return to the GIS on Saturday as heroes, after beating the drop last time out away at Aldershot (3pm kick off).
Rob Elliot’s men sealed their great escape with a 0-1 win last weekend and will have a heroes welcome back at base this Saturday.
The Heed will be looking to sign off on Tyneside with a barnstorming performance against tenth place Woking. The Surrey side have recorded four draws and a win in their last five games and look to be improving quickly under new manager Jermain Defoe.
Tickets are available online and will be purchasable on the gate on Saturday for the last time this season. Come on down and show the Heed Army spirit one last time!
Heed View
“We want to make sure we don’t lose that stimulus, it’ll be good for us to finish off our home season with a good performance. It’s important to keep our standards high for the end of the season,” said Rob Elliot.
“Woking are very good, they look like they’re changing their style in a positive way, it’ll be a tough game, probably our toughest game behind York. The challenge for the Lads is to play with freedom and intensity and not lose the standards we’ve set.
“I want to see the real desire from our individuals and the group to kick on and make sure we take advantage of playing with freedom.”
Team News
Keaton Ward’s season has ended, we wish him a speedy recovery ahead of next season. Tyrelle Newton and Joe Grayson are coming back from injury and their minutes will be managed as will the rest of the squad’s.

Gateshead suffered a 3-0 defeat in their final home game of the season to the hands of Woking.
After securing survival last week with a 1-0 victory at Aldershot, Rob Elliot named two changes to his starting 11 with Tyrelle Newton and Ethan Moore getting the call up.
Both goalkeepers were called into action early, with Ethan Moore seeing a strike saved while Adam Desbois stopped Harry Beautyman’s effort.
Beautyman didn’t have to wait long though, as he tapped home at close-range on the half hour to put Woking ahead.
Jamie Andrews fired over after half-time, before the second was added when Matt Ward’s effort rolled under Desbois and into the net.
Gateshead came agonisingly close when Jacob Butterfield’s strike was met with a fantastic save, while Levi Amantchi rattled the woodwork from inside the box.
Woking eventually added a third in the seventh minute of added time, when Olly Sanderson chipped Desbois on the counter.
The Heed will travel to Altrincham next weekend for the final game of the 2025/26 season.
