We’ve Met Before
The most recent competitive meeting between The Sulphurites and The Heed came in April 2019, with Harrogate winning 2-0 at Wetherby Road.
Gateshead should have taken the lead on 30-minutes, when Jack Hunter headed wide for Ben Clark’s side, but the Heed failed to push on, and Harrogate converted with their first real chance of the game four minutes before the break.
Jordan Thewlis latched onto a long ball and finished into an empty net after rounding Heed stopper Aynsley Pears. From then on, the hosts looked in control and doubled their lead after 55 minutes when Thewlis did well to find Mark Beck for a simple tap-in.

The Marcy Fitness Stadium is located out of town, and is around a 20-minute walk South East of the railway station.
From Harrogate Town Centre, The Harrogate Bus Company operate service 7 from Harrogate Bus Station to the stadium, and a guide to services to the stadium can be found by clicking here.
There are no direct trains from Newcastle to Harrogate. Catch an LNER, CrossCountry or TransPennine Express service from Newcastle to York, then change on to a Northern service to Harrogate.
Please note that Harrogate Town encourage all supporters to attend using public transport, as parking at the ground is on-street, and respect for residents is encouraged. If you do need to travel to the game in the car, leave the A1(M) at Jct 47 and take the A59 towards Knaresborough, then take the A658 towards Bradford/Harrogate. At the second roundabout, turn right on to the A661 towards Harrogate. The entrance to the ground is on the right.

Tickets can be purchased online here, with Gateshead fans seated in The Touch Telecom Stand (Standing) and The Kitching Plant Hire Stand (Seating).
Tickets cannot be purchased at the stadium and MUST be purchased online in advance. Turnstiles open 90 minutes prior to kick-off, and Gateshead supporters enter via South Turnstiles.

Pete Jameson’s spectacular goal wasn’t enough for Gateshead as Harrogate took three points on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Heed’s goalkeeper’s goal from inside his own box – against his former club – put the visitors in front for only seven minutes before Josh Hmami equalised, before Ash Boatswain’s late own goal saw the hosts emerge victorious.
Harrogate controlled possession from early on at The Marcy Fitness Stadium, albeit without creating clear cut chances, with Shawn McCoulsky and Bailey Hobson both sending efforts wide in the first 10 minutes.
Jameson wasn’t called upon until there were 24 minutes on the clock when he prevented Ethan Bristow from putting the home side in front, and Bristow threatened again later when his low cross flashed across the six-yard box and behind.
Two half time changes saw Lee Cattermole introduce Boatswain and Luke Supyk in place of Billy Chadwick and David Eguaibor, almost immediately after the restart Gateshead went ahead in incredible circumstances through goalkeeper Jameson.
Keon Lewis-Burgess’ ball back inside his own box was punted back down the pitch by Jameson, with his wind-assisted strike bouncing on the edge of the opposite penalty area and over Rory Watson’s head before nestling in the back of the net.
Jameson’s first professional goal was cancelled out just seven minutes later when Hmami’s 25-yarder found the top corner – via a wicked deflected – to equalise for Harrogate.
The hosts again controlled proceedings from there on out with Gateshead offering little going forward, barring a 25-yard effort from Fenton John which was comfortably held by Watson in the Harrogate goal.
Harrogate came close twice late on, first when Jameson reacted quickly to parry a cross-goal shot wide for a corner, before Archie Baptiste then had a header cleared off the line.
The home side would score the winner in fortuitous fashion just into the 90th minute though, with a corner striking Boatswain’s shoulder and beating Jameson at the near post to deal Gateshead a final blow late on.
Defeat saw The Heed slip into the Enterprise National League’s bottom four, with one win and four defeats from their opening five fixtures.
