WokingNext up on the road for Gateshead is a 600-mile round trip to The Laithwaite Community Stadium to face Woking on Saturday, September 6.
Woking come into Saturday’s game fourth bottom in the National League having played out a 1-1 draw with FC Halifax Town on Wednesday night. The Cards have one victory to their name this season, which came away at Morecambe last weekend. Neal Ardley’s side strengthened their front-line with the loan signing of Josh Kelly from AFC Wimbledon in midweek, with former Heed midfielder Tim Akinola also part of the Woking squad.
We’ve Met Before
In the most recent meeting between these two sides, Gateshead thrashed Woking 4-0 at the International Stadium in December 2024, two Luke Hannant penalties, either side of a Tyrelle Newton strike made it 3-0 at half time, before Owen Oseni wrapped up the scoring three minutes into the second half to secure a rampant win on Tyneside.
Our last visit to the Laithwaite Community Stadium resulted in a 2-0 victory, goals from Kenton Richardson and Mark Beck sealed the win for The Tynesiders, although the game was overshadowed by a horrific injury to Greg Olley, which resulted in the midfielder missing the rest of the season.

Gateshead were defeated by five away to Woking in a tough afternoon at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.
The hosts took a two-goal lead into the break after Aiden O’Brien and Tariq Hinds netted in the first half, before Jamie Andrews and Joshua Osude struck a further three in the final half an hour to seal the result.
Alun Armstrong handed Curtis Edwards his Gateshead debut in the centre of midfield just one day after he signed until the end of the season, while also bringing in Josh Home and Max Sheaf alongside him in the middle of the park.
Tiernan Brooks would be called upon in the opening minute to keep Woking out when Josh Kelly broke through one-on-one after David Ferguson’s miscued header, with the stopper rushing out to block from inside the box.
The Cards took the lead with 12 minutes gone however, sending a looping long throw into the box which O’Brien side-footed into the far corner at the back post after Kenton Richardson’s initial clearance fell to the forward’s feet.
Hinds added a second midway through the half when he found himself unmarked at the far post from a set-piece, firing first-time into the top corner to leave Gateshead with an uphill task just 23 minutes in.
Brooks was on hand to prevent a third just after the half-hour mark when he blocked Andrews’ effort, but Woking’s control on proceedings would only continue after the half time interval.
O’Brien was denied a second by a remarkable save from Brooks at point-blank range early in the half, though Andrews would convert from a right-sided cross to make it three with 61 minutes gone.
Gateshead’s afternoon would only worsen when substitute Osude scored twice in the final 16 minutes – breaking away from a Woking goal kick to score one-on-one for his side’s fourth, before again netting on the counter from Gateshead’s own free-kick to make it five.
