The Glovers come into Saturday’s game having started their National League campaign with successive draws against strong opposition. The Glovers have conceded late in both of their opening games, squandering a 1-0 lead in the 89th minute on the opening day against Scunthorpe United, before Carlisle United found a 96th minute leveller in a 1-1 draw at Huish Park last weekend.
We’ve Met Before
In the most recent meeting between these two sides, Gateshead claimed victory at the International Stadium in front of a bumper Non-League Day crowd in late March. Second-half goals from Keaton Ward and Mark Beck helped the Heed move five points clear of the relegation zone and make it one defeat in eight games.
Ward broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 65th minute following a Jake Wannell handball, before Mark Beck doubled Gateshead’s advantage eight minutes later, heading home Zak Gilsenan’s cross at the back post. Yeovil’s Finn Cousin-Dawson was dismissed in stoppage time but, Yeovil pulled a goal back in stoppage time, through Kyle Ferguson, now of Gateshead.
Travel Information
Huish Park is located on the edge of town, around 3-miles North West of the Town Centre.
Yeovil is served by two railway stations, Yeovil Pen Mill and Yeovil Junction. Both stations are located quite a distance from Huish Park, with Pen Mill just under three miles away and Yeovil Junction almost five miles away. From both stations, it is advised to get a taxi to the stadium, or if you arrive at Yeovil Junction, catch the 68 bus into the Town Centre.
There are no direct trains from Newcastle to either station in Yeovil, however, there are two routes to choose from. Catch an LNER or Lumo service from Newcastle to London Kings Cross then change onto a Southwestern Railway service from London Waterloo to Yeovil Junction, alternatively, from London Paddington, you can catch a GWR service to Castle Cary, then change onto a service to Yeovil Pen Mill.
From Yeovil Town Centre, you can catch the 51 bus, operated by Buses of Somerset, to Huish Park, a timetable for the service can be found by clicking here.
If you’re travelling by car, take the M5 south to Jct 25 (Taunton), then take the A358 towards Ilminster, joining the A303 at Horton Cross. Follow the A303 eastward, signposted for Andover and London, to the Cartgate roundabout. Take the A3088 signposted for Yeovil. At the first roundabout, turn left, then at the second roundabout go straight (past the Crematorium). At the third roundabout, take the first exit onto Lufton Way. The stadium entrance is approximately half a mile on the right.
Parking is priced at £3 per car, and you can pay by card at the machines. The car park is monitored by the ParkingEye system, and fines may be issued for any breaches of parking regulations, such as overstaying or parking in restricted areas. Please ensure you park in the designated spaces and follow all signs to avoid receiving a fine. For off-site parking, please use the industrial areas to the west of the stadium and avoid parking in residential areas to the east, to minimise disruption.
Gateshead supporters wishing to use disabled parking should contact the Disabled Supporters Association in advance on 07790 375250 (Sharon Swain – DSA Secretary). Disabled spaces are limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Gateshead were defeated by three at Yeovil Town in their second away fixture of the Enterprise National League season.
A second minute goal from Stephen Walker put the hosts in front early, before a late Luke McCormick double ensured Gateshead made the long journey back to Tyneside with no points.
The Glovers began on the front foot from kick off and scored with the first chance of the game under two minutes in when Stephen Walker slammed past Pete Jameson, two minutes before the Heed stopper denied Ryan Jones from making it two.
Jameson was kept busy throughout the opening 45 by Yeovil and was on hand to keep the score at one more than once, saving from McCormick twice and Charlie Lennon from inside the box.
A rare Gateshead foray forward saw Luke Supyk test Jos Barker’s gloves with a header from Ash Boatswain’s cross, but that would be the only time The Heed had an effort on goal at Huish Park.
Yeovil struck the crossbar with 34 minutes on the clock when Lennon’s cross was fired against the woodwork by Jones, leaving the score at one at half time.
The hosts spurned more opportunities to go two up in the second half, with Jameson saving again from McCormick before ex-Heed defender Ben Radcliffe fired over, but the frequency of attacks led to a second inside the final 10 minutes when McCormick finally beat Jameson.
McCormick netted his second – and Yeovil’s third – one minute before the full time whistle after David Ferguson’s miscontrol at the back, capping off a disappointing afternoon in Somerset.
