Since Monday, the pitch at Gateshead International Stadium has had covers on to help ensure the surface is playable for both ourselves and Newcastle United Women.
Until Thursday, a serious amount of rain fall that has slightly hindered the drying of the pitch. The improvement today, and the fact warm air is being used on the playing surface, has seen a vast improvement that we hope is working in the right direction.
As a precaution, the covers will remain in place today and overnight, and we have organised for a pitch inspection by the match referee at 9am on Saturday morning.
Everything that can be done is being done, and we thank both Newcastle United Women and Sports Stadia for the use of the pitch covers throughout this week.
