Johnson joined on loan from Middlesbrough in March 2025, signing a deal until the end of the season.
The 18-year-old arrived on Tyneside having enjoyed a breakthrough 2024/25 season, appearing 30 times for high-flying Vanarama National League South side Eastbourne Borough before signing for Boro in January, where he made six appearances in the Premier League 2.
