Johnson joined the club on an initial one-year deal in July 2025.
The right-back arrived at Gateshead International Stadium after most recently spending the 2024/25 season with League Two side Bradford City, making 14 appearances across all competitions.
The 28-year-old boasts a wealth of Football League experience having racked up over 200 appearances across the third and fourth tiers of English football – with 150 of those coming in League One for Accrington Stanley, Fleetwood Town and Portsmouth after graduating from Middlesbrough’s academy system.
