Hunter joined Gateshead in June 2023 following a four-year stint at neighbours South Shields.
The full-back became a fan favourite during his time with The Mariners, making 112 appearances across all competitions before capping his time with the club by lifting the Northern Premier League Premier Division title in 2023.
Hunter made 27 appearances in black and white across the 2023/24 season before re-joining South Shields on loan in February 2024 for the remainder of the season, and then departed to join Chester on a permanent transfer following the end of the campaign.
