The forward signed with the Heed after spending time on trial with the club in pre-season of 2019/20 and appeared as a substitute in the pre-season opener against Middlesbrough.
Blackett is a product of Newcastle United’s academy setup and also spent time with Sheffield United as a youngster before returning to the North-East with Heaton Stannington and Newcastle Benfield.
The forward re-signed ahead of the 2020/21 campaign and spent the early portion of the season on loan with Blyth Spartans, scoring six goals in 10 games before being recalled, although the season was curtailed shortly afterwards.
Blackett struck 10 league goals during the title-winning 2021/22 season despite injury issues, and his 99 minutes per goal was the best of any to have netted double figures in the National League North.
