Gateshead FC can confirm that Robbie Tinkler has left the club following the expiration of his contract.

The defender departs after making 215 appearances across three separate spells on Tyneside, first joining the club on loan during the 2017/18 season before appearing again in the 2018/19 campaign, and then re-joining for a third time in June 2021.

Tinkler was a key figure of the club’s 2021/22 National League North title winning squad, making 45 appearances as The Heed earned promotion to the National League, before playing a further 45 times during the following campaign as Gateshead reached the 2023 FA Trophy final.

The 28-year-old made more history in black and white during the 2023/24 season when he lifted the 2024 FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium, alongside earning Gateshead a top seven finish in the National League for the first time in 10 years.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the brilliant years at Gateshead,” said Tinkler.

“I’m so happy to be able to have brought success to a fantastic club. I’ve made friends for life & will be remembered as one of the happiest times in my career so far – thank you!”

All at Gateshead FC would like to thank Robbie for his efforts and contributions during all three of his spells with the club, and wish him the best of luck in future.
