Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Derby County defender Ryan Bartley.
The 21-year-old joins on a contract until the end of the 2024/25 season, having spent time on loan in the Vanarama National League North earlier this season with Spennymoor Town and Hereford.
Bartley made 23 league appearances across his two temporary spells in the sixth tier, most recently playing 16 games for promotion-chasing Hereford, scoring one goal in the process as well as being named The Bulls’ Player of the Month in October 2024.
“Ryan showed real commitment and willingness to be a part of the club,” said manager, Carl Magnay.
“It’s a permanent, which is great, and he’s a very ambitious kid, but the biggest nod that he got was from Radders [Ben Radcliffe].
We picked Radders’ brain having been at Derby with him – and he can be quite harsh with his critique on players – but he was really positive about Ryan, and what we’ve found out about him as a person has been reflected since meeting him.”
