Our upcoming pre-season friendly away to Spennymoor Town will now be played as former Gateshead midfielder Rob Ramshaw’s testimonial match.
The final fixture of pre-season will see Ramshaw appear for Spennymoor Town against Gateshead, having left Tyneside to join The Moors in the summer of 2016. Ramshaw made over 100 appearances for Gateshead in a hugely successful stint from 2013 to 2016, and played a key role in the squad that reached the 2014 National League play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
Since then, Ramshaw has gone to make almost 450 appearances for Spennymoor and score 56 goals in the process, perhaps most notably helping guide The Moors to promotion to the National League North with a stunning strike against Stourbridge in the 2017 play-off final, before later reaching the 2019 National League North play-off final.
Ramshaw has confirmed that all proceeds from the testimonial match on Saturday, August 1st (3pm kick off) and a Golf Day to be held at Beamish Park Golf Club on Sunday, September 6th will be donated to two charities which are close to his heart.
“I thought this was the perfect opportunity to give something back to two amazing charities,” he explained.
“St Cuthbert’s Hospice cared for my Grandma Margaret, and Willow Burn Hospice cared for my Granda Fred. My family will always be grateful for the kindness, compassion, and support they showed us during such difficult times.
“Both charities do incredible work every single day, and without donations they simply wouldn’t be able to continue providing the care that so many families rely on.
“The football match and the golf day aren’t about me; they’re about raising as much money as possible for two truly amazing causes.
“If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would be hugely appreciated. Thank you so much for your support.”
