Fourteen games remain of the 2021/22 season for Gateshead and they’re in a promising position in the league table being six points clear at the top.
An excellent run of form which has seen the Heed pick up eight wins from their last ten has propelled them up the table into pole position with their fate purely resting in their own hands.
A little over a month ago, UK bookmakers had Gateshead down as 2/1 favourites to top the National League North come the end of the season and back in September, six games into the season, they were 20/1 outsiders. However, due to four consecutive wins, including a 3-1 win at home to Farsley on Tuesday evening, Gateshead are now odds-on with bookies such as BetVictor and Parimatch.
Vanarama National League North Winner Odds
- Gateshead 4/5
- Brackley: 5/2
- Kidderminster: 3/1
- Fylde: 12/1
- Chorley: 25/1
Brackley Town and Kidderminster Harriers are the main threats to Gateshead title challenge with the two sides being just six and seven points adrift. Both sides also have two games in hand over Gateshead and are also in great form currently being unbeaten in their last seven in the league.
Remaining Key Games
The games in hand that both Brackley and Kidderminster have in hand are out of the control of Gateshead and so continuing with their excellent run of form is the main priority to ensure that if the chasing pack do win those games, the Heed are still in contention for the title.
The first big game Gateshead have in the coming weeks is when they host Kidderminster at Gateshead Stadium on Saturday 5th March. Victory in front of home fans a week on Saturday would give the hosts chances of a league title a huge boost and potentially move them ten points clear of the Harriers
Following that game, the next big encounter for Gateshead is when they travel to St James Park to face Brackley Town on the 2nd of April. It’s possible that this game could determine the winner of the league this season and is huge for both sides.
Brackley also host Kidderminster on the 19th of March and it remains to be seen what the favourable outcome of that match would be based on the results for all sides leading up to it.
Brackley no doubt pose the biggest threat but Gateshead will take confidence in the fact that they have beaten them once already this season, as they have done against Kidderminster too.
One Game At A Time
Before Gateshead host Kidderminster next weekend, they’re away to Telford who are currently two points off the bottom of the table and who they beat 4-1 when hosting them at Gateshead Stadium last month.
With just two wins in their last thirteen and none in their last five, Telford, as you would expect, head into the match as underdogs.
Gateshead are priced at 3/5 to win on Saturday and according to Gateshead FC betting partner WhichBookie.co.uk, they look like a solid bet considering the form that the two sides are in.
The Heed have scored three or more goals in three of their last four games and so Gateshead -1 could be a good option at odds of 17/10.
