Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the signing of defender Harrison Holgate until the end of the 2026/27 season.

The centre-back arrives on Tyneside after departing EFL League Two side Fleetwood Town following the 2025/26 season, after emerging through the Cod Army’s academy system and making over 100 appearances for the club.

The 26-year-old signed his first professional deal with Fleetwood as a 17-year-old, and went on to appear in League One and League Two for the club after loan spells with Ashton United and Altrincham in the National League North and National League earlier in his career.

Holgate now arrives at Gateshead for the remainder of the 2026/27 campaign, and is eligible for immediate inclusion in the match day squad.

“I spoke to the gaffer a few weeks ago,” he said.

“He put across his thoughts for me for the season, how he wants to play, what he wants the team to look like, and I guess it was more about taking my time. It’s a position I’ve never found myself in, I’ve been out of contract and it was important to not rush things.

“I was taking my time looking and seeing what was right because I know it’s a big year for me. I wanted to go somewhere and play football, kick on again and show my quality.”

Welcome to Gateshead, Harrison!
