Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the signing of Chesterfield defender Branden Horton on a permanent transfer.
The left-back arrives at Gateshead International Stadium having made 68 appearances for Chesterfield across the past three seasons, including 26 in the National League during The Spireites’ title-winning campaign last term.
The 24-year-old played 31 times in League One with Doncaster Rovers prior to his move to Chesterfield in 2022, and has racked up 51 games in the fifth tier during his time with the National League’s current champions.
“I’m delighted to get things done now,” said Horton.
“The style of play here, everything suits me very well. I want to play every week, and I wasn’t playing much at Chesterfield anymore so I wanted to try and get away and play a full season, and get games under my belt.
“Hopefully we can get in the play-offs or even push for second or third place and hopefully win the play-offs, if not this year, then next year.”
