Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the loan signing of Callum Whelan, subject to National League approval.
The midfielder joins the club on a temporary deal until the end of the season from fellow Vanarama National League side Solihull Moors, where he has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season.
The 24-year-old also appeared 89 times for Oldham Athletic across two seasons prior to joining Solihull in the summer of 2022, playing in all but three League Two fixtures for The Latics last season.
“Initially for me, it was to go and play somewhere,” said Whelan.
“I have a mutual friend with the staff here that put me in contact, and as soon as I knew there was interest from Gateshead it was always my number one place I wanted to come.
“I’ve played against them twice this year already, they’re a very good team and will suit the way I like to play as well, so it was a no brainer to come.”
Whelan will wear shirt number 33 and is available for immediate inclusion in the squad.
