Gateshead FC is thrilled to announce that Greg Olley has agreed a contract extension to remain with the club until the summer of 2024.
Olley has been an integral member of the squad since arriving at Gateshead International Stadium in July 2018, and is the longest-serving member of the current playing squad.
The midfielder scored seven goals and recorded five assists in the Vanarama National League during his first season on Tyneside, and returned despite demotion to the Vanarama National League North the following season to aid the club’s promotion ambitions.
Olley has racked up 124 appearances in black and white, scoring 22 goals, and has played a key part in Gateshead’s rise to the top of the National League North by recording 13 assists from midfield.
He was handed the captain’s armband in July 2021 prior to embarking on his fourth season with the club, and was recently named as the Vanarama National League North’s January Player of the Month.
“I’ve never felt more at home playing football,” said Olley.
“As soon as I walked in everything clicked – I love playing my football here.
“I always said once you find somewhere that you’re happy I don’t think you should ever leave that unless something changes, and I’m still very happy.
“I’ve fallen in love with this football club.”
