Gateshead FC is delighted to confirm the loan signing of Josh Home for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

The central midfielder arrives at Gateshead International Stadium having most recently appeared for The Blues’ academy teams since making the move to the Midlands in 2021, with the Ashington native spending his early academy years with Newcastle United.

The 19-year-old has been involved of Birmingham’s first-team pre-season preparations across the last two seasons after penning his first professional contract in July 2023, and was named on the bench for the first time in their Championship fixture against Stoke City in December.

Home also captained The Blues’ under-21 side during the 2023/24 campaign, which saw Birmingham reach the Professional Development League play-off final in May 2024.

“I’m buzzing to be honest,” said Home.

“I’ve been here for two weeks now, training with the group while things were getting sorted.

“The main thing for me was the type of football that Gateshead play. It’s what every player wants to be involved in, keeping the ball on the floor and playing through the lines, so I’m really over the moon to be honest.

“The type of player I am, I like to keep things ticking in the middle of the park, play forward when I can and get on the ball as much as I can, so obviously seeing the way Gateshead play drew me in.”
