Gateshead FC Ladies is delighted to confirm the appointment of Thomas Kelly-Hansford as assistant manager.

The 20-year-old joins Carl Morrison’s coaching staff ahead of the 2024/25 campaign with The Heed set to take on their third season in the North East Regional Womens Football League, having ended the 2023/24 season in seventh place.

Kelly-Hansford began his coaching journey as a 16-year-old, and undertook a coaching scholarship at Sunderland’s Foundation of Light alongside working with Northern League side Sunderland RCA as a youth coach, with whom he helped achieve promotion in 2024.

He progressed to Sunderland RCA’s first team as an analyst in October 2023, before taking on the role of first team coach in January 2024 and successively becoming interim assistant manager for the final four fixtures of the 2023/24 season.

Kelly-Hansford has also worked as an analyst and coach with Sunderland futsal, with whom he won the NFL Tier 3 division in May before lifting the National Plate live on TNT Sport in June.

Welcome to Tyneside, Thomas!
