Eddie Thomas struck for Newcastle Benfield on their way to a 4-2 win over Carlisle City last weekend.
The forward netted with 16 minutes on the clock, slotting home a rebound following Benn Dibb-Fuller’s initial shot, to put Benfield 2-1 ahead in a frenetic start at The Three Rivers Health & Safety Consultancy Stadium.
Carlisle levelled to make it 2-2 at half time, though second half goals from Dennis Knight and Gerard Richardson secured all three points for Benfield who now sit seventh in Northern League Division One.
Fellow loanees Kyle Errington and Lewis Leech also made the starting 11, with Errington substituted off at half time while Leech completed the full 90 minutes in midfield.
Connor Pani and Ryan Wombwell were both in Isuzu FA Trophy action for Morpeth Town on Saturday, as The Highwaymen exited the competition at the hands of Lancaster City.
Pani played 63 minutes in midfield at Craik Park before being replaced by Liam Noble while Wombwell lasted the full 90 minutes, as Nico Evangelinos’ hat trick secured progression in a 3-2 win for the visitors.
Elliot Forbes was also in action for Vanarama National League North side Spennymoor Town on Saturday as they faced Buxton at The Brewery Field, with the defender introduced as a ninth minute substitute following an injury to Jo Cummings.
Forbes saw a header cleared off the line shortly after Buxton had taken the lead, but The Moors were unable to recover and fell to a 1-0 defeat on home soil.
