The midfielder put in a standout display in the middle of the park for The Mariners, and linked up with former Gateshead forward Paul Blackett to score his first of the season at The Citadel.

Hasani played a full 90 minutes in South Shields’ 1-0 win over Scarborough Athletic on Saturday, taking Julio Arca’s side up to ninth in the National League North table.

Elsewhere, both Elliot Forbes and Lewis Knight started twice for Blyth Spartans in their sixth-tier fixtures against Scarborough and Hereford last week.

The Spartans fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Scarborough in midweek, before securing three points with a 2-1 victory over Hereford at Croft Park despite going a goal down in the first half.

Knight was twice denied what would have been his second goal of the season by fine saves from Bulls goalkeeper Curtis Pond in injury time, though Blyth’s win sees them move third with three wins from their opening four fixtures.

In the EFL Trophy, Billy Chadwick played 65 minutes alongside former Gateshead defenders Ethan Pye and Neill Byrne for parent club Stockport County as they took Manchester United U21s to penalties, though they would go on to lose 5-3 on penalties.
