Gateshead Football Club is delighted to confirm the extension of Matty Jacob’s loan from Hull City.

The defender will now remain at Gateshead International Stadium until the end of the 2021/22 season, having arrived on an initial five-month loan from Championship side Hull City in August 2021.

Jacob has made 25 appearances since his arrival and netted his first two senior goals in the 6-2 win over Bradford (Park Avenue) in the Emirates FA Cup second round qualifying in September 2021, as well as recording three assists.

Speaking on securing Jacob’s loan extension, player-manager Mike Williamson said: “Matty has been different class since he has come in.

“He’s such a good personality around the changing room and he’s got that willingness to learn and improve.

“He’s a young lad – he is here learning his trade and doing his apprenticeship in men’s football, so to speak.

“You always know what you’re going to get with him, but when you’re young and you’re coming into a full season sometimes it can take its toll so we try to put him in and take him out accordingly.

“Everything is for his progression so ultimately we’re delighted to extend his loan because we want to continue getting him minutes.”

Jacob’s home and away shirt is available to sponsor for the remainder of the season – contact james.rushmore@gateshead-fc.com for more details.
