Gateshead Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Oli Thompson on a one-year professional contract.
The young forward Oli Thompson enjoyed a standout 2022/23 season, breaking through to the first team setup in February 2023 after appearing for Gateshead FC Academy earlier during the campaign.

Oli Thompson was first included in the squad for a National League fixture against Oldham Athletic, before making his senior debut in the FA Trophy quarter-final win over Farsley Celtic in March and league debut against Dagenham & Redbridge later that month.
He then made his first senior start against Barnet in the semi-final of the FA Trophy, before appearing as a substitute at Wembley Stadium in the club’s first-ever FA Trophy final in May 2023.

“It feels unbelievable,” said Thompson.
“I’m over the moon, it’s my first professional contract and I’m just ecstatic with it.
“I’ll be working hard and going to the gym – I need to get a bit of muscle on!
“I’ll be grafting in the gym, working on my technique and hopefully once it gets to pre-season I’ll be bang at it.”
Signing is subject to NL and FA approval.
