Carty joined the club on loan from EFL League One side Bolton Wanderers in November until January 3, 2023.
Prior to arriving on Tyneside, the Irishman spent one month on loan with Oldham Athletic where he made four appearances in all competitions.
The 20-year-old joined Bolton in the summer following a five-year stay at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and scored his first senior goal for The Trotters in a Papa John’s Trophy fixture away to Tranmere Rovers in September.
